As ALLERGY is not a specialty in Ireland, Dr Ranbir Kaulsay ( Irish Medical Council registration number 20264 since 1996 ) is registered as a Medical Doctor with a Special Interest In Allergy. As there aqre so few qualifierd Allergists in Ireland with his qualificastions , he is deemed to be a Consultant in the Beacon and Bon Secours Hospital, with full consulation and admission previleges.
He is NOT an Immunologist and does niot deal with Immunology conditions apart from Allergy.
PATIENT INFORMATION –
I’ve listed some information below for you regarding our tests, pricing and locations.
It usually takes between 20 to 40mins with our Allergist, Dr Ranbir Kaulsay and the cost for this is €120.00. There is no referral needed from your GP.
Our bloods range in price, from an additional €40.00 up to €350.00, therefore worst case scenario on the day you could pay anywhere between €120.00 – €470.00 depending on the tests the doctor thinks you need done. You may also not need bloods done and the charge would be just for the consultation. In other words, please allow for the consultation plus bloods/testing, which may or may not be done.
Then any review visit with Dr Kaulsay is €150.00
On children and most adults, the most popular test is our Skin Prick Test. The results are seen within 15 minutes and this can mostly be done at your first appointment. The entire process takes about 45 minutes. The cost for this is €300. We do not see any child under 2 years of age.
We are open every Monday from 8.00am – 5.00pm from our rooms in the Beacon Consultants Clinic located in the Beacon Hospital, Sandyford, Dublin 18.
We are open Tues, Wed & Friday from 8.00am – 4.00pm from our rooms in the Consultants Clinic, Bon Secours Hospital, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.
We cover specific IgE and allergy blood screening, chemical patch testing and skin prick testing and our allergist Dr Kaulsay normally decides which test would be best suited to each patient. You do not need to fast for any of our testing.
We see patients with complaints such as asthma, hay fever, suspect rashes, food allergies and other airborne allergies normally affecting their skin, eyes, nose, throat, breathing or tummy problems.

In relation to any health insurance, YOU must contact them and confirm if your plan covers a consultation Dr Kaulsay. Also confirm whether “allergy blood screening / testing or RAST testing” is included on your policy, otherwise you may not be reimbursed. Some do have this option included in their forms and state that they cover them, but it depends on the plan option you have with the health insurer.
Our current waiting times is approx. 10-12 weeks and we do have a cancellation list which patients can be added to if requested.
